This storm started a fire up the road from me and burn 20 acres of brush when lightening struck a thorn bush. Its was so dry here that the fire spread quickly because of the winds.

yes that was the first good rain storm since May. Luckily about 1/2 hour later 3 inches of rain dumped.

Don't know if it killed any animals. Have not heard of any cattle destroyed. I am sure as fast as it was moving something other than brush burned.

Those are fantastic pictures.here is nothing like being able to watch the ever changing patterns of a storm on those flat plains.Being a weather freak,I loved Wichita Falls,TX and Colorado Springs for the contrast of the mountains on one side and the plains on the other.

Great "R" storm pics! Sorry to hear about the fire...Hopefully a lot of the critters made it to safety...Those brush fires spread so quickly...Wish you box up some "R" and send it this way...We are so dry here, with water restrictions...Everything is turning toasty...Risk of fire is very high...

Same here Goth, Its nuts a whole month without measurable R. Unlike last year I had webbed feet and had to rescue chickens and others from drowning. Thanks Milkdog

I remember Mal...Chickies needed water wings last year :0) This year they need sunscreen and cool sunglasses... I just went out to give the stray cats some cool water and mid-day food and it is almost too hot to breath...Would love to see a nice cool thunder storm move our way....

I thought we would bet a blast yesterday. Some folks down South got a couple of inches yesterday. Farmers are hurting down here.

Yes...I think this is one of the worst years Mal...Just too much heat too quickly...Don't want to think of what August will bring.

Wow! Talk about weather extremes! Daughter just went back to DC and she called saying heat and humidity is very bad, even there...Usually they don't get a lot of heat, but this year it is everywhere...
