Toad, trusted canine companion to Mal, family and lastly Betty and J.W. His humble life began in Greece, 1992 at Iraklion. He had eleven litter mates born to a mixed breed stray. He was found by American G.Is and they were adopted out. Toad was bottle fed, carried in a purse or back pack and went everywhere with Airman Mal.

He moved with Mal to San Antonio, Texas and became a member of a mixed family in Sept 1996 when she married and moved to Poth. Later his life was blessed with Saenz when the family moved back to San Antionio. In 2002, he was reassigned to Betty and J.W's house because the vet said it was in the best interest not to drug him during a flight to Portugal. So, Toad moved to Talladega, Alabama in March of that year.

"NO DOG will ever live in my house," said J.W. Yet, Toad decided that was just not the case. Within 1 hour, Toad had sucked up to Mal's Daddy and was inside. For six years Toad's only duty was to keep Mal's Dad motivated enough to get out of bed. This week at the ripe old age of 16, Toad was put to sleep after suffering complications of congestive heart failure.

Toad may you find your spot in heaven. Chase & play with all the kitties, squirrels and beg as many snacks from willing hands as you want. May all the hands rub your ears, tickle your belly, and accept your kisses with tenderness and love. May the person controlling the door get up whenever you need to go outside.

Oh no, Mal! I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn't see this post until now. That's the horrible part of having a dog, but he had a wonderful life w/ you.

My grandfather told me something when my dog died years ago. I was crying and couldn't stop. He told me not to worry because he said my dog had never had a bad day in its life while in my care and he was right. What he said still makes me feel better when I lose my pets now. :)
