We Are Deep In the Heart of Texas

Nomadic seasons of farming adventures with nature thrown in to include; a pinch of family, snippets of friends, counting our blessings, paying IT forward, home school, and the spicy things I decide to rant about.

ABOUT HUNGER: Michael Nye

If you get a chance to see this man's work.  HOLEY MOLEY you are in for a shocker.  This woman weighs only 86 pounds, can not find a job..................

I was deeply moved by viewing some of Mr. Nye's work at the Witte and listening to the stories of people he photographed.  You can check out his work here:

Listen to the voices of People talking about what its like to be so hungry they hurt. The one that moved me most was the story of John B, a schizophrenic, former prisioner, his childhood dealing with hunger. His voice just carried with me all day in my head.  Please look around you for ways to help others. No one should go hungry.

It always saddens me,what with the amazing technology we have,we can not feed our poor .Heck we can't even get decent lunches in the school system. We live in a very poor county. We have the only food bank for the whole county in our town...so many people needing help.We do what we can.

we send billions of dollars oversea's. I have never in my life been hungry but I have a real fear of being hungry, maybe something from a past life.

Good Morning Ladies

Nura, That woman would weigh 39 kg. There are no jobs for many folks here -- she is not excessively heavy. She is extremely thin.

Melodie,

The school lunch program is another reason I am considering homeschooling my sons. Here too, the school system suffers but, a football coach will make double the salary as a master degree carrying teacher.

It's all priorities....

Joanna, Did your grandparents live in the Great Depression? My Maw Maw told me stories from that time.

Why is it we can't help our country first. I know many countries have needs and they are real needs... but we are only one country we cannot solve the WORLDS problems, BUT I certainly think we could and should take care of USA CITIZENS FIRST!! Then we send millions to other countries IF millions are left to help ...

It just does not make sense for USA citizens to be without homes, food, medical and we are sending millions out of this contry every year to other countries....

okay I will just shut up now... it is just one of MANY things I just don't get... why do we not take care of the USA citizens first! Its our tax dollars!!
