Today, I am running about like a sore-tailed hen with a double yolker about to drop. Not happy with how things move about slowly here with service industry folks. Hubby dug most of the electric pole hole by himself but, then the neighbors came by finished the digging plus they sank it in the hole and helped to set it firm. THANK YOU!
Been waiting on the electric company to come out to add the meter to the 'cabin' but, by 11:30 I gave up waiting on them to show. I had to run into Beeville for more food. With another adult in the house, I under-estimated how much food I need to keep on hand for the week. IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.
It is so damnably blazing hot here, some canned bisquits exploded in the shopping bag on the way home. Luckily the two cans were in a bag and now the chickens are pecking out some dough. I don't know about ya'll but this weather is a real PITA (Pain In The Arse) to deal with for us and our animals; I am flashing back to the drought of Oh Nine.

I have noticed that service people are terribly slow (it pays by the hour, don't you know?) and to actually show up on time or even the day they are supposed to - would ruin their reputation and their boss would expect that kind of timing all the time!
Old wives tale (my Mother being the old wife) said that a terribly cold winter follows a terribly hot summer. If that is the case, I better start buying some of that red long underwear!
Farmer's Almanac says it will be cooler than usual at the end of September for us in Texas...come on September!

Yep...waiting on service folks in insane... And the heat is UNBELIEVABLE. With the humidity, it is in the 110+ range for heat index ... and this is little old VIRGINIA! Not some Texas, or something!

I am with Sharon. I have come to EXPECT service folks to NOt come on time and NOt do their job and for us to have to come behind and fix. Unfortunate, but true.
My husband too had to do the work himself when he the wiring to his woodworking shop had to be put in-the GA Power folk left after piddling for hours and accomplishing not much at all. He ended up digging himself too, laying the cables and all. I feel for you all.
Sharon, I would love to have cold weather here. Saenz is 'Jonesing' for snow in the worst way. We can only hope though, South Texas would be a complete mess in wet weather.
