We Are Deep In the Heart of Texas

Nomadic seasons of farming adventures with nature thrown in to include; a pinch of family, snippets of friends, counting our blessings, paying IT forward, home school, and the spicy things I decide to rant about.

Hawt Flashing, Time Marches On

Man! I don't know about you ladies but, I am so not liking the peri-menopausal phase of my life.  I ____ (fill in the blank yourself) hate, deride, recoil, shudder at, abhor, repelled by, detest, loathe, resent, despise, scorn,  Hawt Flashes.

Good Grief, You know the kind of sweat where if you start; you have to cool down just to shower or else it just does no good.  I mean dang, some days I have to change clothes several times even if I am not outside in the Fire Ball Heat of South Texas.

Then add to the HAWT FLASHES there is the snappiness that reminds me of a spoiled chihuahua in its momma human's arms.  ANNOYING, yet not really effective unless said retorts leave the lips of the hawt flashing woman or chihuahua gets loose from the one it is protecting.

Now on to something else.  Hubby's lasik went well; he can see better than 20/20 in one eye and had the other one done for reading.  Not bad, recovery was quick he drove us home from the doctors' office after a check up the following day.  Next year it will be my turn.  I am really stoked about the process.

Let me tell ya, in the lobby there was televised laser operations going on as they happened.  YEP, I watched my own hubby's eyes get 'lazzed,' the top layer scored off and, then the rapid fire laser to reshaped his eye.  I was kinda wigged out and my own eyes were tearing in empathy to what I thought must be extremely painful but, not.

This morning, I submitted the last form to get reimbursed from the FSAFEDS for his surgery.  I hate the process but, it is a godsend since we have 'paid' for the surgery in advance through the FSAFEDs Health Savings Account.  Next year, will be the first time since I was a elementary school kid without coke bottle glasses.  So, I am super stoked.

Any way, what have ya'll been doing?

I would recommend you head over to Gregs at Pitt Rehab blog.  He gently reminds me everyday; no matter what is going on in my world.  Life is worth living and to suck the marrow out with ones teeth.  He recently went bow hunting and bagged two deer in one trip.  Now, why is that amazing???????

You will have to go check it out for yourself.  Greg is a super human being in my estimation.

Hope your slices of heaven is as beautiful as ours.

Good that the lasik went well! We have talked about having mine fixed when they take out the cataracts but, the more I think about it, why go through the added expense, and at least the glasses sort of disguise my baggy eyes. ???

My little slice of heaven smells like steak smoke - I forgot to shut the pan off right away, so I have the whole house fan on and have invited in the extra warm day in!

Mal, Mal.... welcome my YOUNG friend to the wonderful world of of RIDICULOUSLY hot! I can say, at least, I am not having as many these days and gee, it only went on for about 5 years.... still, I could not imagine living in Texas and trying to deal with them. And the snappiness is ugly... almost as if another person has invaded your body... Horrible! But I got through it without hormones, and am happy for that. Good luck to you on your menopausal journey!

I have been wearing coke bottles since I was 10 months old... lasik is not an option for me, but I think I would not like it anyway... I wouldn't have my "protective shields" if I didn't have my glasses.

Glad your hubby is doing well. Have a great rest of the weekend!

My verification word is "exessio"... I think that well defined menopausal snappiness!

I don't know what's worse, the hot flashes or my grown children teasing me about them. Nevertheless, I have found new places to apply stick deodorant (under the bra area)!

I would love to get lasik done since my glasses probably weigh about a pound, and I'm not sure what the next step is after I got trifocals this past year. I am a bit afraid of the procedure, however.

I enjoy reading your blog immensely!

I have thought about having that surgery for several years. It scares me a little bit (probably why I haven't) but wouldn't that be awesome to not have to wear glasses or contacts!

I have heard from Dr.Oz himself (on TV) that a tablespoon of ground flax in the A.M. and one in the evening is supposed to help with the HOT FLASHES!!! I told my sister about the other day. Try it...may help. Of course, mix it in juice or something.
