Where I few up in New England, my German short-haired pointer had a snake bark that was distinct from his other barks, no question about it. In our neck of the woods we did not see many timber rattlers, but definitely copper heads.Kikihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00131939459387208752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538279403802445266.post-5379266029039967412011-07-02T20:18:54.845-05:002011-07-02T20:18:54.845-05:00Can't imagine having to live with this fear. I would never kill a non-venomous snake but with the dogs and goats (who are animals often too curious for their own good and can end up bitten on the nose, which is NOT good for sure)I would have taken no pleasure in it but would have done the same thing. I think especially with a snake so determined to stay close to the house for so long, geez! Not sure how to keep them out of your yard though. Have you thought about a pet mongoose? ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdg9gkmWsEA&NR=1&feature=fvwpJenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17664824920459341153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538279403802445266.post-57039789899961359972011-07-02T12:00:01.648-05:002011-07-02T12:00:01.648-05:00John, Trust me those fanged ones really do scare m...John, Trust me those fanged ones really do scare me to pieces.

Neurotic, Thanks for stopping by and commenting. :O)

Art, Do you have any black snakes for sale? The Venom of the rattler does not hurt the Black Snake and a rattler will leave the area knowing a Black Snake is present. Having a pond may invite Water Moccasins/Cotton Mouths which is a very aggressive snake. Good luck on ridding your yard of poisonous snakes.Arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09121612571665123662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538279403802445266.post-88323887625495316932011-07-02T04:08:47.515-05:002011-07-02T04:08:47.515-05:00I hate snakes!I hate snakes!Gigihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06851177953453414065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538279403802445266.post-45839455598643437122011-07-01T16:57:14.920-05:002011-07-01T16:57:14.920-05:00"I know his snake bark"

Best possible solution would be to find a trap that would keep both of you safe and transport him, far, far away and release. I imagine one would have to be a snake handler to do that one! :-) Wouldn't they breed if they had a pond and safe haven? Just sayin.....Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02743921972328074980noreply@blogger.com
