HAD THE HELL scared out of me yesterday.

This is my memory of yesterday.

Zephyr and I left to go pick up Saenz and we noticed the smell of smoke which was really weird since the winds were impossibly strong. So, we pull out of the drive way and I saw smoke up around the corner. When we went around the bend, I saw a turned over truck lying on its side on fire. I stopped and got my phone out, no service even for 9/11.

At this time a man in a white pickup pulled up behind me, I ran to ask him to dial 9/11. I ran back to my truck and told Zephyr to stay put. I ran up to the back of the over turned truck; it was lying on the drivers' side, I notice the camper door had been broken out. Flames were shooting out from the engine which I could see and inside the cab. I looked inside the back and could see no one. I ran to right side and could see no one in the truck; the wind shifted blowing the flames back over the gas tank. I ran back to the White Truck Driver and asked if he got in touch with 9/11. He said he did; I asked him if I could call my son's school to have him ride the bus home -- no damned service.

Another couple drove up in a van; the flames were still over the gas tank. They had no phone service. I then went looking for the driver of the truck, this time I found him in the ditch laying face down in the prone position.

He was unresponsive; I started shouting to him and touching. I could see his arm was bloodied but, I kept talking to him. I eventually got him to respond and get to his feet. I was so scared the gas tank would blow but luckily the wind kept changing. I checked the old man's his eyes were glassy but he was responding to my questions. His wounded arm needed medical attention.

I got the man to the fence went back to my truck to check my son, then the couple in the van took off in front of me and went around the fire and went to the man. I ran back to the White Truck and he said help was on the way.

I then got in my truck to drive up to the victim standing outside the driver’s side of the van. She had given him a paper to put on his wound and told me I needed to stay with him because her husband had an appointment with a doctor in Corpus and they took off.

I got the old man in my truck by pulling him inside to get us away from the fire because we were only 25 to 30 feet from the fire. I then took him to the closet house up the road to call my son's school. I then checked him again to see if he was responsive and talking clearly and we went back to the scene. He did not remember being unresponsive.

I waited until paramedics showed up. The man in White Truck had left. Volunteer firemen showed up and started working on the fire. Another farmer showed up and started talking to the old man while he was getting first aid. I was so scared; this old man was 83 and feisty. He argued with me that he was not unresponsive but only asleep. ANY WAY, the paramedics took him to the hospital.

I watched in my vehicle while the fire was put out and the truck taken away.

What bothers me about this whole situation????????????

What would have happened if I had not stayed? Or went looking? What would have happened if the passerby did not get in touch with 9/11? I could not believe folks left me and my five year alone with an obliviously injured man not to forget about the vehicle on fire -- on the side of the road.

What I have learned from my experience: 1. Carry some 1st aid supplies, pocket knife, old blanker or towel, flashlight, and fire extinguisher at all times. 2. Carry not only aspirin but a clean bottle of water as well. 3. Teach my sons how to render aid & stop to give aid. 4. FIND a better phone service provider. 5. Know I am out there alone, folks are too damn busy to give a flying frog's azz about anyone but themselves especially if it interferes with their plans.

Today I am nursing sore back, muscles and many bruises from helping the man to his feet and into my truck.

Were my efforts worth it? HELL YEAH! All life is sacred even the elderly.

Would I have climbed inside a burning vehicle while my son was watching? (I DON'T KNOW) This bothers me because I have to come to the realization that I too have standards of how far I will go to help another. This leads me back to other Samaritans.

Perhaps they too, had reached their limits and went on by.

Names of the Dead, petition for healthcare

Thanks Ms Lori for passing this link on to me:

http://salsa.mydccc.org/o/30019/t/11/thankYou.jsp?key=4

Here is my reasoning plus my petition......................

Health care for all. My recent letter to Kaye Baily-Hutchinson.

http://www.saenzmom.blogspot.com/

I want a public option. I would love to see true capitalism in health care where businesses compete. I would love to see insurance company choices not restricted to state of residency & no more open season regulations.

I would love to see the big insurance monopolies busted up. I would love to see morality back in providing the best care for all humans regardless of some inane INDUSTRY label or pre-existing condition to include gender.

No more fighting wars in other countries until the 'war' of keeping others from healthcare because of -- profit margins or greed, or empire building -- is over.

ALL persons within the United States need quality health care. If the heath care provided to Congress is good enough for them; then give it to 'ALL.'

Respectfully,
Mal Torres

On my soap box again. LOL

Greetings Senator Hutchinson,

I know you don't remember me but, I remember you from the winter of 1992 in Crete, Greece. Yes Ma'am, I was active duty Air Force back then and had the duty of ensuring your tour, intelligence briefing, dining, photo op, room and shopping experience in our base exchange went well. (First impressions are said to be lasting, guess what, my impression of you was (('is')) -- not positive.)

I do not support any spending overseas to help those who would harm us if given the opportunity to do so. I guess I am strange but if a rabid dog bites the hand that feds it needs to be put down.

I do however support a health care plan for ALL our citizens. I would love to see the same health care you are afforded be made available to ALL HUMANS regardless of their: nationality, sexual preference, religion, *PRE-existing condition, job status, green card, political party affliation or any other delinations or lables big business assigns ------ exactly given to you and other senators.

I know exactly the healthcare you are afforded. I have been inside many military health care institutions and waiting while YOU & OTHER members of congress were ushered in before my daugther recovering from cavernous hemangioma at age 13 at Walter Reed received care. I know and watched while soliders sat in hallways while your colleauges were given priority over our nations wounded.

You see, I do not feel you are any more worthy than a fellow Texan (AMERICAN) who can not afford health care.

Call me strange, a democrat, liberal or whatever lable you wish.

However if you want my vote as to replace Rick Perry. Promise health care for all.

Respectfully,
M. Torres, USAF RETIRED

Things that get on my last nerve:

Oh the list will be long but, I just want to start this here. My own form of BYTCHINESS

1. Talk show host who don't allow their guest to speak their answers fully when asked questions about their view point.

My reasoning:

Christ Matthews, Nancy Grace, Big Ed, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly -- they all use their shows as 'bully pulpits' to further their own views on audience members. Shame, shame on the media for lacking objectivity. I really - really miss Tim Russert. No wonder our American society as a whole no longer listens or thinks own its own. Is it any wonder, I often surf the channels instead of staying tune to their monologue of self-love.

2. Doctors who only seem to want to push pills. (((In Saenz case with seasonal allergies - especially pills that are OTC (over the counter) so, insurance companies don't have to pick up the tab.))) Instead of finding out what is causing the medical concern of their patients. It is easier to toss out a prescription than it is to make a true diagnosis.

My reasoning:

Saenz has been diagnosed with seasonal allergies since FUKKING BIRTH but, not one doctor will have a skin test done to tell us what he is allergic too. Thus, from birth he has had allergy infections but we are told to treat him with Claritin and Zyrtec; worse yet antiboditics when his sinuses are infected.

3. I am pissed that Mr. Obama (others) says healthcare will not ADD to the budget. Has no one been paying attention?

My Reasoning:

ALL THIS ARGUING is adding to our national budget. What is the cost of people losing lives, limbs, or body parts? The cost of inactivity is prolonging the debate but, adding to our national deficit.

4. Tort Reform is back by Republicans but not health care reform, why is this?

My reasoning:

Insurance companies want to protect their coffers thus they lined the pockets of our congress persons to pass some tort reform limiting payout on mal-practice suits. YET, these same insurance companies deny coverage for those with some really 'stupid' pre-existing conditions. More and more doctors will "QUIT" instead of not taking the risk of working & then be sued for medical mal-practice while the insurance companies will cut anything that reduce their MONEY GRUBBING WAYS.

More later.........................

It's Official, I have gone off the deep end.

Soon the Republican Party will be knocking on our door to remove us from the State of Texas. Just this passed summer I tossed an invitation to join the ranks for the National Rifle Association in the dumpster sorry -- Mr. Heston. We donated to a 'socialistic cause' Second Harvest but, also contributed to Democratic Party to help pass the Health Care Bill with a public option or for --CRYING OUT LOUD-- a single payer system.

YES, I am a sinner --- still I did not vote for Mr. Obama. (WE ARE A STUDY OF CONTRADICTIONS-----I KNOW.)

I am also guilty of watching 'Religuous' by Bill Maher which did make me laugh from flashbacks as a child. Scared me right out of the church attendance because the establishment was a 'foot washing Baptist' church of tongue speakers.

>>>inserts shivers here, talk about post traumatic stress<<<<

However just this passed week, I actually signed into Michael Moore's website. YEPPERS, I am now untrustworthy. WHY you ask?

Simple, I wanted to find out where Capitalism: A Love Story was playing in my area. "Surprise Surprise Surprise, " as Gomer Pyle would say. It's not playing in any theatre for over 80+ miles. So I will post my comment on his website:

http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/mike-friends-blog/two-things-you-can-do-month-break-your-abusive-relationship-capitalism

"Mr. Moore & Others,

Personally I am tired of writing my senators. Each time, I get canned email responses that are not even on topic. I am surrounded here in Texas by the Have's controlling the Have Nots. I am also tired of being labeled a liberal, republican, or democratic by whomever I am speaking to at the moment. Really, what does it matter which party I belong too; if I even belong to one. I too am for a single payer health care system; I belong to the best public option around (TRICARE PRIME) on active duty and still carry it after retiring. YET, my neighbors can not afford health insurance at all because they have pre-existing conditions like diabetes. WTH?????

Can someone explain to me in simple terms; Why do we need insurance companies profitting off the misfortune of ANYONE? Really, can you imagine this conversation --- HONEY I got paid today because I denied 50 women the right to Mamograms (sp) and they not only lost their breasts, hair but also their life? OR better yet, a wall street or bank exec --- HONEY I got 100M in bonuses and helped to keep the poor off unemployment for another 6 months.

Another thing that chaps my hide, I can not go see 'Capitalism: A Love Story' because guess why???? I am in a heavily controlled 'RED' State and until such time as cows and bulls start carrying WiFis and connect into the internet I am at the mercy of Netflix or WalMart. Standing here in Texas, pizzed, angry and tired of the hypocrisy.

Respectfully, M. Torres "

Movie Review: "W" by Oliver Stone

Okay if this post pisses you off then just leave or leave a non-inflammatory comment. I don't mind peeps with differing views but, here is my opinion of 'W' and the message conveyed to me from watching it.

I am of the mind to agree with Charles de Montesquieu:

"NO KINGDOM HAS SHED MORE BLOOD THAN THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST."

or

"An empire founded by war has to maintain itself by war."

With that said, I am tired of our leaders using religion to kill, invade, or pillage other countries for their wealth.

America has lost approximately 8 thousand souls due to fighting with muslims. On the other hand, how many have they lost for rights to their oil fields over 80,000?

--------------------------

The begining of the movie had Mr. Bush and his administration talking about how to sell an Iraq invasion and decided upon the term 'AXIS OF EVIL' -- building on Mr. Regan's 'empire of evil.' THEN Mr. Bush had his administration pray. I was highly incensed and had to turn the movie off for a few hours.

Because the basis of any religion with few exceptions in my personal opinion especially Christianity is not -- kill in order to line pockets of the monied, revenge to avenge the honor of a father, send 'uniformed masses' who joined the armed forces for employment or youthful ideals to war, or spread a hypocritical version of democracy.

""OLD MEN'S CIGARS, PUFF UP THE WARS, TO PROTECT THEIR FUKK-UPS AGAIN, YOUNG MEN MUST DIE TO KEEP THE OLD ONES ALIVE, AND TO PROVE THEY ARE STUDS ONCE AGAIN." (terrence trent darby song "If We All Get To Heaven 1987.)''

Getting back to the movie, Mr. Stone. Your movie made me wonder if you had access to White House employees on the sly. Because some of your points of view have been my own since the early 2000s. I would recommend this movie to others but, warn it is long and drawn out and seems to chase its own tail in the last 40 minutes. My Kudos is off to the actors though Mr. Brolin did capture Bush's mannerisms very well with the other male actors.

President Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

By KARL RITTER and MATT MOORE, Associated Press Writers Karl Ritter And Matt Moore, Associated Press Writers – 5 mins ago

"OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.
Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama woke up to the news a little before 6 a.m. EDT. The White House had no immediate comment on the announcement, which took the administration by surprise.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation but recognized initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," said Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee."

World Leader views

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8298802.stm

Now My Thoughts:

1. I agree with his opening talks back up with the muslim world. This is a wonderful thing. There is no way on this Earth will the 'Christian World' ever defeat tyranny by use of violence, sanctions, and hypocrisy. Long gone are the days if -- IF YOU ARE NOT WITH US, THEN WE WILL BOMB YOU.

2. I do agree with his stance of AMERICA has helped you (other countries) but, you must help yourself as well.

3. I disagree with his not getting the American military out of Iraq, Afganistan, Gitmo and dismantling America's own nuclear arsenal. However, he has to deal with the 9 years of build up by our past administrations. (A FREAKING LOGISTICAL nightmare of evironmental cleanup and restoration. Just look how long it takes to return a u.s. military base back over to it's city leaders. )

HAPPY COUPONING, 1 Oct Super S

Since joining BIG TENT, I have learned quiet a bit about shopping sales and doubling my efforts for finding ways to save money. I figure since I am a Stay At Home Mom (SAHM), farmer, and full time student; it's my job to find the best bargins and use of the money my husband earns.

This morning while I did not take my 5 pound coupon binder with me to Super S, and had Zephyr with me as you can see -- by some impluse buys to placate his hunger and curiosity. I did not do too bad. Super S has wonderful sales on meat especially fresh pork and chicken get 5 packages for $19.99. Said packages range in weight from 2 1/2 lbs or 5 lbs dependingin on the cut & type of meat. This morning, I figured that the two packages of wings I purchased with hubby in mind were free.

TOTAL SPENT: $40.46 but would have cost $56.47
SAVINGS: $16.01
